Uncover the Art of Model Railroads in 'The N Scale' Fanzine

Fanzines are small publications that are catered to a small group of people with a specific interest. This fictional fanzine focuses on the art and hobby of model railroads, specifically the N scale (as the title states) and it was designed to showcase the how-to of building and layout of different model railroad scenes. It also showcases the intricate work that comes with detailing various locomotives to look realistic from decal work to weathering. All images of locos (the shortened version of the word “locomotive”) were provided by N scale enthusiast Thomas Mozden.

Design elements of this fanzine include laying out my background grid correctly taking into account the size of my font. A twelve column background was used throughout to accommodate text, pull quotes, images and diagrams. Pages with red ends were used for “how to” sections and include tips and articles on how to set up different parts of a model railroad project. A gallery section is included at the end of the fanzine, showcasing different types of model railroads that look realistic when photographed at a certain angle.
